The Process: Mountainside Beginnings

It was a crisp October morning — clear blue skies, a light wind, and a herd of elk not far off. We were perched on the side of a mountain, finishing up a warm freeze-dried meal. I handed Brian my spoon, and he looked at me with a grin.
“You know what we need, man?” he said, scraping off the last of the Mountain House lasagna. I waited.
“Some kind of gear list tool. Something where you can check off everything as you pack for a trip.”
I chuckled. Brian had forgotten nearly half of his gear on this hunt — including, clearly, a spoon.
Six Months Later I called Brian to catch up, and the conversation quickly turned to hunting season and the trips we had lined up. I told him I’d been thinking about that checklist idea — and that it might actually have some legs.
That simple idea turned into a long process. That process became Rucklist.

Why We Built It
In a world where every new piece of gear claims to be a “game changer,” Rucklist exists to help you cut through the noise. We give you the tools to make informed decisions, save money, and — most importantly — make the most of your time in the wild.
We started this on the side of a mountain, with a borrowed spoon and a forgotten checklist. Today, Rucklist is here to make sure you're never in that spot again.
